NGOS GOT TO KNOW THE GREEN SENTINEL!

Citizen science programmes continue, with NGOs in focus. This time, experts from the University of Debrecen and the HUN-REN Institute for Nuclear Research gave a presentation to NGOs at the measuring station of the Green Sentinel 14.


Prof. Dr. László Stündl and Prof. Dr. Sándor Kéki from the University of Debrecen and the Green Sentinel Air Working Group presented the main elements of the system, its operation, the methodology of online and physical measurements. Dr. Zsolt Dombrádi, Director of the HUN-REN Institute of Nuclear Research , which has about 30 years of experience in air quality testing, and Dr. Zsófia Kertész, Senior Research Fellow, who gave a full presentation of the instrumentation based on their decades of scientific experience, highlighted the accuracy of the instruments, the importance of calibrated instruments, data validation, continuous sampling, processing and information.


During the citizen science presentation, Tibor Nemes, vice-president of the Mothers for the Environment Association of Mikepércs and Edina Timár, and Gergő Papp, from the Green Szentgyörgy Circle Association, were introduced to the instrumentation, the methodology and process of data recording and processing based on online and physical sampling, and were convinced of the transparency of data availability and the authenticity of the system.
